My view “THE MAGIC OF THINKING BIG”, David J. Schwartz, PH.D

Since I started a habit of reading books, I have decided to share the books read in my blog, so that I can give other people an opportunity to know how the book is and whether one can use it in the implementation of any project one strives to do.

The book, “Magic of Thinking Big”, am reading it for the second time, and somehow reading any book once and then again, makes it to get-in in ones head and hence I developed an interest in writing about what I have read.

The better approach in sharing the books is to analyse the every two chapters so that it can at the give one a perspective.

The first chapter deals with, “ Believe you can succeed and you will”, and the second chapter, is “Cure yourself of Excusitis, the Failure disease”.

Our news in South Africa is filled with negative vipe, news on TV, social media is filled with negative news. I ask myself when every turn, negative thoughts are brandid about, how are we going to turn our country around with positive thoughts. The country has three critical challenges of, Unemployment, Inequality, and Crime”, how are these challenges going to be resolved while all the news in the media are negative.

I suppose this blog will assist one in turning the thinking around to say, “Believe you can succeed, and you will”. What Dr David Schwartz is telling us in the this chapter, is that the MIND is powerful tool in turning any negative thinking to positive thing. He is saying that, “Every human being wants success. Everybody wants the best this life can deliver. Nobody enjoys crawling, living in mediocrity. No one likes feeling second-class and feeling forced to go that way”.

What I notice that we don’t get encouragement, and positivity that things can get better and even be fine. What Dr Schwartz is saying in this chapter is that “Believe, really believe, you can move a mountain, and you can. Not many people believe that they can move mountains. So a result not many people do”. This obviously not meant in its literal way. What he is trying to advise us is that “Belief works this way. Belief, the positive, I can attitude generates the power, skill, and energy needed to do. When you believe I-can-do-it, the how-to-do-it, develops”.

Strong belief triggers the mind to figure ways and means and how-to, and believing you can succeed makes others place confidence in you.

In the end of this chapter Dr Schwartz, looks at a ways and guides us to acquire and strengthen the power of belief, in that

  1. We need to think success, don’t think failure. At work, home, everywhere think positive, and stop thinking about failure. When you are confronted with a difficult situation think, “I will win”. Thinking success conditions the mind to think of create a plan that will produce success.
  2. Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think. What Dr Schwartz, is assisting out thinking is that never sell yourself short. Belief you can do it, and you will do it.
  3. Believe BIG. The size of success is determined by the size of your belief. Think little goals and expect little achievement. When you think big goals and win big success.
